Department's System Command. Packaging data retrieval is available from the managing Military
Department's or Defense Agency's automated packaging files, CD-ROM products, or by
contacting the responsible packaging activity.

NOTES
(This section contains information of a general or explanatory nature that may be helpful,
but is not mandatory.)
6.1 Intended use. This specification is intended for use in the preparation of SCs which
contain component lists of sets, kits, and outfits. Catalogs contain technical data covering the
components listed and are used for identification/accountability of these components/items by
operators and maintenance personnel.
6.2 Acquisition requirements. Acquisition documents should specify the following:
a.
Title, number, and date of this specification.
b.
Supply catalog title and publication number.
c.
Distribution statement and destruction notice (as applicable).
d.
Issue of DODISS to be cited in the solicitation, and if required, the specific issue of
referenced documents. (see 2.2.1).
e.
Issues of SB 708-6 and 708-43 exist in microfiche only. DA PAM 710-2-1 is found in
the Unit Supply Update, issued quarterly. (see 2.2.2).
f.
Optional requirements in this specification, identification of option by name and
paragraph number, details of the options.
g.
Verification requirements. (see 4.1)
h.
Packaging requirements. (see 5.1).
6.3 Technical manual acquisition. This specification should be listed on the DD Form
1423, Contract Data Requirements List, in order to acquire the supply catalog described by this
specification, except where DOD Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Supplement exempts the
requirements for a DD Form 1423.
