(This section contains information of a general or explanatory nature that may be helpful, but is not
mandatory).
6.1 Intended use. Manuals and checklists prepared in accordance with this document are for use in
loading/unloading munitions/weapons on or in aircraft.
6.1.1 Integrated combat turnaround procedures. These manuals and checklists are to be used to service,
maintain, and load/unload munitions on aircraft under combat or combat training turnaround conditions.
6.1.2 NATO Stage B. These checklists will also be used by NATO allies to load/unload munitions on
aircraft. Therefore, the checklists should be written in a simple, direct, and illustrated manner.
6.2 Acquisition requirements. Acquisition documents must specify the following:
a. Title, number, and date of this document.
c. Munition/weapon nomenclature(s) (see 3.1.3).
d. Grammatical phrases to be used (OL-NS/EN will supply grammatical phrases for nuclear
weapons loading manuals) (see 3.1.6.2).
e. If other than standard data packages are to be prepared (see 3.1.6.5).
f. If use of the term "if applicable" is to be other than as speciied in this document (see 3.1.6.3).
g. If cockpit switch saing procedures are to read other than as speciied in this document (see 3.1.6.4).
h. Types of manuals to be prepared (see 3.2).
i. Precedence paragraph or statement, nuclear safety certiication statement, and additional information
j. The Air Force activity having technical responsibility for the manuals and checklists (see 3.2.3,
k. If all sections in chapter 1 are required (see 3.3.2).
l. If additional sections, speciied by OL-NS/EN, are to be included in chapter 1, and, if so, type
to be included (see 3.3.2).
m. If procedures are to be subdivided when required to meet weapon system requirements, if
additional primary paragraphs, provided by OL-NS/EN, are to be included, and, if so, type to
be included (see 3.3.2.8.1).
o. If chapter 2 is to be divided into sections, and, if so, arrangement of those sections (provided
by OL-NS/EN (see 3.3.3).
p. If text is to be other than single column unjustiied, and if illustrations are to be other
than integrated with text (see 3.4.3).
q. Precedence paragraph or statement, and additional information to be included in manual foreword
r. If all sections in chapter 1 are required (see 3.6.2).
s. If additional sections are to be included in chapter 1, and if so, type to be included (see 3.6.2).
t. Manual release and jettison mode to be functionally checked (see 3.6.2.6).
u. If additional primary paragraphs are to be included (see 3.6.2.6.1).
v. If chapters 2, 3, 4, etc., are to be divided into sections, and, if so, arrangement of those
sections (see 3.6.3).
