Electronic presentation: If electronic TCTOs are developed in lieu of printed copies, the acquiring activity
(see 6.2y.) shall specify the method for inclusion of the electronic TCTO and/or BOM with each kit
being furnished.
Print presentation: When speciied by the acquiring activity (see 6.2y.), the preparing activity shall produce
one printed copy of the TCTO for inclusion in each kit being furnished. The quantities of copies, when
speciied, shall be indicated in the appropriate document at the time of coordination processing of the TCTO.

6.1 Intended use. TCTOs are used to accomplish and provide a record of any one-time inspection, removal
and replacement or installation of components, retroit change or alteration to the design or construction of
any aeronautical, non-aeronautical, Communication-Electronic (CE), air launched or surface launched missile,
space vehicle systems or ground vehicles, their related equipment, site, facility, support systems, and associated
Support Equipment (SE) maintained by the Air Force. If speciied by the acquiring activity, TCTOs may also
be used to announce computer program changes affecting weapon systems, Automatic Test Equipment (ATE),
simulator, and on board command and control systems utilizing digital/computer systems. The military unique
requirements for the TCTOs covered by this speciication are as speciied in TOs 00-5-1 and 00-5-15.
6.2 Acquisition requirements. Acquisition documents must specify the following:
a. Title, number, and date of this speciication.
c. If furnishing of installation drawings or instructions with a Record TCTO or kit is other than
as speciied herein (see 3.2.3.3.1).
d. Authority to issue TCTO (see 3.4).
e. If the single TCTO method is to be used (see 3.4).
f. Use of approved AFTO Forms 873 and 874 information (see 3.5).
g. If, in electronic presentation, the TCTO data will be displayed other than as speciied herein
(see 3.5.1).
h. Use of assigned TCTO number (see 3.5.2.4).
i. Use of assigned Data Code (see 3.5.2.5).
j. Use of assigned Issue Date (see 3.5.2.6).
k. If Indicator of Safety Marking "SAFETY TIME COMPLIANCE TECHNICAL ORDER"
is required (see 3.5.2.7).
l. Urgent Action time limits for accomplishment (see 3.5.5.2).
m. Routine Action compliance period (see 3.5.5.3).
n. Use of assigned title or subject of instructions (see 3.5.2.8).
o. Use of approved existing publications notes (see 3.5.2.9.1).
p. If SAP special handling instructions are required (see 3.5.2.9.4).
q. If kits are involved, the type of kit applicability information to be provided (see 3.5.3.2).
r. If multiple kits will be used (see 3.5.3.2.1).
s. Use of designated maintenance level (see 3.5.6).
t. If instructions for disposition of kits/parts/materials are going to be provided and if provided
other than as speciied herein (see 3.5.7.1.7).
u. If part number changes are required to be made (see 3.5.8.5).
